Sunny Point Cafe wins 2012 Best Dish NC Award with first perfect score

Sunny Point Café was awarded 1st Place in the Casual Dining category for the West Piedmont/Mountains region in the Best Dish North Carolina competition with the first perfect score since the competition was started in 2006. 

The Best Dish in North Carolina restaurant competition is an annual competition held by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture. The competition recognizes restaurants and chefs across the sate for using North Carolina agricultural products in their menus.

Restaurants had the option to enter a single-course entrée or a combination of courses to include with the entrée. Sunny Point Café entered an entrée, appetizer, salad, and dessert receiving a perfect score on each.

Entries were judged on: 

• Overall use of North Carolina products and ingredients

• Creativity of entry including ingenuity of local ingredients, preparation and presentation

• Taste, originality and uniqueness

• Depth of farm to table connection

• Overall appeal and value
