As part of the River Arts District Studio Stroll on Sunday, November 11,
RiverLink will offer two programs. At 11:00, Nancy Hodges, RiverLink's
Watershed Resource Manager, will talk about WaterRICH™, BMP's and Rain Gardens
as a way to reduce sediment into streams and help residents control storm water
at their homes.
At 12:30, Nikki Bauman,
RiverLink's Education Coordinator, will present the Urban Water Cycle.
Wilma Dykeman famously said that humans lost their relationship to water
when they no longer had to go to the creek to fill their bucket - and all
they had to do was turn on the tap. This scale model demonstrates in hands-on,
interactive manner the entire water cycle from taking water out of the river
into a treatment facility to what happens when you flush the toilet.
During the Studio Stroll
in Asheville's River Arts District, more than 180 artists open up their studios
for a full weekend of art, creations, and demonstrations. The Stroll is
the first, largest, and most walkable tour of working artists' studios in the
region. Open studios are scattered throughout 19 historic
buildings along the French Broad River.
