Asheville on Bikes (AoB), the advocacy group focused on advancing Asheville’s
urban and commuter bicycle culture, is hosting its Sixth Annual Bike Love event
at Isis Restaurant and
Music Hall located on 743 Haywood Rd on Saturday, February 23.
Asheville
on Bikes uses celebration to increase awareness about the advantages of
improving and expanding Asheville’s bicycle infrastructure. “Each year we
kick-off our season of cycling events, we host a variety of community rides and
bicycle corrals.” Shares Rachel Reeser bike advocate. “All our work
centers on ensuring the advancement of multi-modal transportation
improvements.”
Event Details:
The evening opens at 6pm with an exhibit of bicycle plans to show off our region’s bicycle blueprints. The master plan maps illustrate the potential for bicycle connectivity throughout our city and region. “It’s time to share the vision, I can’t think of a better way to kick of the evening.” Mike Sule, AOB Director.

The event includes a silent auction with a “bike local”
theme that features bike gear and local touches. All proceeds will
support the afterschool bicycle program AOB started this year serving IRL
students at Asheville Middle. “Middle school students have really responded to
the opportunity to pedal,” says Sule, “We want to make sure they have the
skills to ride smart and safe.”
At 9pm Jim Arrendell & the Cheap Suits will entertain
with a searing set of soul and R&B. At 11pm DJ Marley Carroll
will spin late into the evening, be ready to dance. The Isis will be serving up
their creative
cuisine throughout the evening.
A pre-event raffle for a Specialized
Work 2 is taking place at Motion Makers on Brevard Road in February. Raffle

Love. Bicycle raffle tickets are $3 for 1 or $5 for 3.
