SpringHill Suites Asheville goes quackers for Artnight

What would you draw on a duck? That’s what the SpringHill Suites by Marriott® Asheville would like to find out, as the hotel seeks local businesses and artists to participate in its second ArtNight “Bark n’ Art” event, scheduled Tuesday, May 21, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. The evening of creativity and inspiration will showcase uniquely decorated rubber ducks, which will be sold with proceeds benefiting the Beagle Freedom Project and Mission Children’s Hospital.

The SpringHill Suites is issuing a call for artists, businesses and creative types to design imaginative rubber duckies for the event. Ducks are available at the hotel’s front desk, located at Two Buckstone Place, just off Tunnel Road. Individuals or groups may participate, and there is no cost to take part. Any decoration may be used, and artists must supply their own decorating supplies. Participants are encouraged to decorate their duck to reflect their group or office, and the ducks will be displayed with the group or company name during the event.

Ducks can also be delivered to your place of business by contacting Director of Sales Cathy Marino at (828) 252-5837.

All decorated ducks must be returned to the SpringHill Suites by Friday, May 3. They will be on display at both the SpringHill Suites and next-door at the Courtyard by Marriott® during the ArtNight event on Tuesday, May 21. Free appetizers and a cash bar will be available for guests as they enjoy an evening of fun and creativity with the rubber duck canvases. Musical lineup to include Candler Town Special, Ben Wilson, Double Rainbow String Quartet, STEROSPREAD and The Goodness Graceful.

ArtNight is part of a SpringHill Suites national initiative designed to give local artists visibility, while exposing hotel guests to the area art scene. ArtNight was launched in 2010 and is celebrated annually at SpringHill Suites properties around the country.

The SpringHill Suites and Courtyard by Marriott® are located at One and Two Buckstone Place, just off of Tunnel Road, near the Asheville Mall. The Asheville hotels are managed by McKibbon Hotel Management, Inc. of Tampa, Florida.
