RiverMusic Concert features "Town Mountain" and "23 String Band" - Aug. 23rd

RiverLink's RiverMusic -- a series of free live music performances beside the French Broad River  and Asheville's premier multi-modal event -- continues on August 23 at 5 p.m.  at the RiverLink Sculpture and Performance Plaza (map) in the River Arts District.

On the bill for Friday, August 23: Town Mountain (Bluegrass and Acoustic) and the 23 String Band  (Old Time, Roots & Bluegrass) CaroMia (Americana, Soul, Blues)

This rain-or-shine features five local craft brewers: Highland, Pisgah, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium and Asheville Brewing Co. To feed the hungry, there will be foodtrucks: Melt Your Heart, Pho Ya Belly, The Low Down, Gypsy Queen Cuisine, and non-alcoholic beverages and other goodies from Ursa Minor.

Inspired by a grant from the Chaddick Foundation, RiverMusic is also sponsored by Prestige Subaru, Pisgah Investments, Ingles Markets. Special thanks to Heira Productions, The Laurel of Asheville, Clear Channel, WNCW,  Asheville on Bikes, and Sundance Power Systems, Inc.as well as our beer sponsors.

Attendees are encouraged to arrive at the event at 144 Riverside Drive by bike, on foot, or even by boat. Watercraft can easily be landed at the new river access RiverLink had constructed at the site. Asheville on Bikes will offer a bike corral for safe bike parking.

A new transportation option this year is the Gray Line Trolley. Gray Line Trolley has signed on to provide a shuttle between  the downtown area the RiverMusic site. This is being accomplished in cooperation with the Asheville Downtown Association. The trolley will loop between the event site and the Aloft Hotel. The last trolley will leave the concert site at 10 p.m.

Dogs and outside food and drink are not allowed.

Parking

There will be parking available in several lots within walking distance from the main gates. Volunteers in bright yellow vests will  staff  the lots.
  • Our primary parking area will be the large grass field between the concert venue at 144 Riverside Drive and Craven Street
  • Parking is permissible in the big field across the street from the old Ice House at approximately 77 Riverside Drive, adjacent to the concert grounds. Attendees parking in this lot can access the concerts via a trail leading from the parking lot to the concert grounds. A RiverLink volunteer will be on hand to help.
  • Parking is also available in the big green lot beside Curve Studios  -- but definitely not at Curve Studios
RiverLink will be recruiting volunteers to do everything from sorting recycling to parking cars to pouring beer. Contact RiverLink's Dave Russell for more information -- 252-8474, ext. 11 or dave@riverlink.org about the series or about volunteering.
