January Intersections events announced by Diana Wortham Theatre





The Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place in downtown Asheville announces its January 2014 Intersections events held in The Forum at Diana Wortham Theatre: 

  • Intersections Pre-Performance Discussions for Eisenhower Dance, Friday and Saturday January 17 & 18 at 7:00 p.m.
  • Intersections Book Discussion Group featuring a conversation about Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Tuesday, January 21 at 6:30 p.m.
  • Intersections Performance: Dirty Barbie and Other Girlhood Tales by Denise Stewart, January 23, 24 & 25 at 8:00 p.m.
  • Intersections Pre-Performance Discussion for Aquila Theatre’s Fahrenheit 451, January 31 at 7:00 pm

Pre-Performance Discussions are opportunities for ticket holders to increase insight and enjoyment of the artists’ performances. The Pre-Performance Discussion on Friday, January 17 and Saturday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m. enhance patrons’ experience of the Eisenhower Dance performances at 8:00 p.m. both evenings. The Intersections Book Discussion Group is an opportunity for book lovers to gather regularly for lively, casual and insightful discussions on selected books in a relaxed atmosphere. The Book Discussion Group on Tuesday, January 21 focuses on Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, a classic dystopian novel of a post-literate future. Fahrenheit 451 stands alongside Orwell’s 1984 and Huxley’s Brave New World as a prophetic account of Western civilization’s enslavement by the media, drugs, and conformity. Intersections Performances: Dirty Barbie and Other Girlhood Tales, on January 23, 24, & 25, is a one-woman show written and performed by Denise Stewart. Dirty Barbie and Other Girlhood Tales is full of universal experiences that transport you back to the best (as well as the hardest) moments of childhood — an effortlessly honest and wonderfully authentic performance. Performances start at 8:00 p.m., and are recommended for 13 years of age +. Regular tickets are $22; Student tickets are $18.
