Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity receives Public Super Markets Charities grant

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity recently received a $10,000 grant from Publix Super Markets Charities to be used for the rehabilitation or construction of single family homes in Buncombe County. 

Asheville Habitat is currently building a 17-home subdivision of affordable, energy-efficient homes in Swannanoa and has begun infrastructure work on a new development off Johnston Boulevard in West Asheville. Habitat also repairs homes for low-income homeowners who need to address health, safety and accessibility concerns. 

Publix Super Markets Charities was established by George W. Jenkins, founder of Publix Super Markets, to improve lives in the communities where the company is invested. Publix recently announced it will enter the Asheville market with a 49,000-square-foot store located on Hendersonville Road, expected to open in 2015.
