CarePartners announces three new leadership positions



Wilder LaFond has been named the new Director of CarePartners Orthotics and Prosthetics. LaFond has been in healthcare for 18 years, with 17 years in Orthotics and Prosthetics, and 5 years with CarePartners. LaFond is both a certified Prosthetist and Orthotist. CarePartnes Orthotics & Prosthetics is located at 1 Doctor's Drive in Asheville.

CarePartners is pleased to welcome Dr. Michael D. Parmer as our Hospice Medical Director. Dr. Parmer has more than 30 years experience in hospice and palliative care, and for the past 6 years has been the hospice and palliative care medical director for the McLaren Health System in Michigan. Dr. Parmer will provide the overall leadership for the hospice and palliative care programs at CarePartners and will assure the effective and efficient delivery of quality hospice and palliative care.

CarePartners Director of Private Care Management, Lisa Laney, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers.The NAPGCM is a nonprofit association representing more than 2,000 members nationally and is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors. Laney, MSW, CMC, will serve a two-year term Which began Jan. 1, 2014.

“NAPGCM is the gold standard of geriatric care management. I am proud to be part of an association that defines excellence in my profession and is dedicated to education, collaboration and leadership,” said Laney . “I look forward to working with the leaders of NAPGCM to meet the demands of the changing elder care environment.”

Laney has been a member of NAPGCM for 7 years and has practiced as a medical social worker & case manager for CarePartners for 23 years. Laney provides guidance and advocacy for families who are caring for older relatives or disabled adults. With a specialized focus on issues related to aging and elder care, she assists clients with the challenges of aging such as finding appropriate housing, in-home care, referrals to medical providers or elder law attorneys, as well as the advocacy and support that provides families peace of mind.
