Junior Achievement seeks Regional Director





POSITION TITLE:
Regional Director Western North Carolina

DEPARTMENT:
Regional Operations (Asheville, NC and surrounding area)
DESCRIPTION:
PT-Time  (29 HRS Weekly) with potential to FT
REPORTS TO:
Vice President of Education - JACC
Works with Branch Board of Advisors


ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
Nearly a century old, JA is the world's largest organization dedicated to educating students about workforce readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy through experiential, hands-on programs. Chartered in 1958, Junior Achievement of Central Carolinas (JACC) is licensed to offer JA programming in 53 counties in North and South Carolina. Each year, JACC leverages more than 2,000 volunteers from local business communities to provide JA programming to approximately 33,000 students.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This position has overall responsibility for designated geographic/market area in Junior Achievement of the Central Carolinas’ –  Western Region territory, including fundraising, program development & oversight, budgeting, strategic planning, and board development. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Leads, directs and manages all fundraising efforts, including special events, grant writing, and all annual operating campaigns. Assures that area revenue meets the targeted budget goal. Successfully carries out contingency plan to make up for any shortfalls. Keeps expenses in line with revenue and adjusts as necessary.
  • Supervises the placement and recruitment of volunteers from companies and other sources in geographic/market area.
  • Implements quality improvements to ensure all programs meet model and retention of volunteers is maintained.
  • Communicates with the branch board of advisors. Holds regular board and committee meetings. Works with VP of Education to direct board retreat. Works with board chair to enhance the stature of the board.
  • Markets the JA brand throughout the geographic/market area through visible community involvement (e.g., chambers, civic groups, etc.) as well as advertises and markets all events to insure community participation.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Required:

Successful track record in fund raising preferably within a non-profit environment. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and three years business/non-profit management experience.  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.  Experience building relationships in the community and an understanding of non-profit

operations to include fundraising. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Professional and donor software. Must possess a basic understanding of financial reporting and finance in general. Ability to work independently is a must.

Desired:

Certified Fund Raising Executive credential and experience in all aspects of fundraising, experience with Raiser’s Edge or other similar database management system, 2-5 years of program experience and experience working with and leading a volunteer board of advisors. Prior experience in volunteer recruitment and management a plus. Prior experience with school systems a plus. Proven sales track record in a goal based environment a plus.  Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
