Scott Scoggins, MD joins Mission Community Primary Care Burke



Mission Health is pleased to announce the addition of Scott Scoggins, MD. Dr. Scoggins joins Mission Community Primary Care Burke from Table Rock Family Medicine in Morganton, North Carolina, where he has served as a partner and long-standing physician since August 1997.

“It is a great honor for us to welcome Dr. Scoggins to the new, Mission Community Primary Care Burke practice,” said Carol C. Wolfenbarger, MSN, RN, FACHE, President, McDowell Hospital. “Dr. Scoggins has been providing exceptional care to the patients of Burke County and the surrounding areas for many years. He has strong community relationships and is committed to strengthening those relationships through his new affiliation with Mission Health.”


Dr. Scoggins earned his medical degree from The University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. He completed his residency in family practice at Mountain Area Health Education Center in Asheville, North Carolina.


“We are greatly excited to have Dr. Scoggins join the remarkable team at Mission Community Primary Care Burke,” said Angie Wills, Vice President, Clinical Programs, Mission Health, and Interim Vice President, Mission Medical Associates Operations. “Dr. Scoggins commitment to continually providing exceptional patient care is evident though his work and years of service. We are greatly appreciative that he selected Mission Health, partnering with us as we strive to always provide excellent service to Burke County and the surrounding areas.”


Dr. Scoggins is board certified in family medicine. During his tenure with Table Rock Family Medicine, Dr. Scoggins’ practice partnership encompassed a full spectrum family practice (less OB), pediatrics, newborns, geriatrics, bariatrics, dermatology and minor surgeries.


“I am excited about the transition and to begin practicing at Mission Community Primary Care Burke. I have a special interest in pediatrics, obesity and geriatrics,” said Dr. Scoggins. “Outside of work, I enjoy outdoor activities such as running, camping and sports for children, as I have two sons and a daughter.”


Dr. Scoggins joins Dana Short, FNP, at the new primary care practice located inside the current Mission My Care Specialty Burke space. Mission Community Primary Care Burke is located at 149 West Parker Road in Morganton, North Carolina.
