The Wolfe family has closed on their new Habitat for Humanity Student Build House, sponsored by Carolina Day School, Asheville Christian Academy, and Christ School. Leaders and student-leaders from the schools and Habitat volunteer leadership were all there to support and congratulate the family. Representing Carolina Day School were Dean of Students Margot Moses and juniors Eva Peterson and Madeline Smith.

"It was so great to see Trish and her boys fulfill their dream of owning a home," said Moses. "I am so proud that CDS took on the challenge to help sponsor this incredible family and work in partnership with ACA and Christ School."

This milestone in the Wolfe family's life will be celebrated, as well as the hard work and dedication of all three sponsoring schools, with a key presentation ceremony before the cross country track meet at Christ School October 21. Carolina Day School, Christ School, and Asheville Christian Academy will be competing that day, but before the athletics begin, all three will celebrate what they have accomplished together.

Carolina Day School partnered with students from Christ School and Asheville Christian Academy to financially support and physically build an affordable home for the Wolfe family. Each school committed to raise $18,333 for the project.

Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide homeownership nonprofit that works with qualifying families to build new homes. Habitat’s mission is to provide a “hand up” rather than a “hand out.” Part of the agreement between Habitat and the partner family is that the family pays low monthly payments and assists with construction. The value of homeownership has been reinforced through many studies which find that secure housing leads to more stable households. A Habitat for Humanity house is not only a building, it’s a safe, affordable family home.
