Each spring the Irene Wortham Center celebrates the success of people in our
community who work with individuals with disabilities and their families. The
Wings of Hope Awards Dinner will take place at the new Event Center at Highland
Brewing Company on Thursday, March 10. Among the honorees will be Linda
McDaniel, director of ARC-Buncombe County, whose lifelong work in support of
the disabled has made a huge difference in our community.
The event will also be a fundraiser for the Irene
Wortham Early Learning Center, which provides high quality care, education,
therapy, and meals for children ages six-week through five-years-old. The
Center currently serves more than 100 children, with 50% having significant
disabilities, and 95% coming from low-income households.
Tickets are $75 per person/$125 per couple. Food will
be provided by Corner Kitchen and beer and wine by Highland Brewing. Corporate
sponsorships are also available.
For 50 years and counting, Irene Wortham
Center has helped children and adults with developmental challenges lead
healthy, happy and independent lives. We believe in the value and promise of
every person and strive to empower individuals to reach their full potential
from birth to end of life.
