Youth Production Class Presents The Phantom Tollbooth: Based on the acclaimed children’s story, the play is a sure classic. Travel with Milo to the Lands Beyond and experience ticking dogs, Rhyme and Reason, giant bees, and so much more outside of your wildest imaginations. This extraordinary adventure is sure to ignite the curiosity in all of us! Directed by Bradshaw Call. This production is performed by a class of students ranging in age from 7 to 13. Performances are Friday, April 29 at 7:30 pm; Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:30 pm. I’ll Eat You Last Opens in 35below: You’re invited to the Beverly Hills home of the first female ‘superagent’ Sue Mengers. It’s 1981 and the New Hollywood has begun to emerge. The phone’s not ringing so much these days and Barbra Streisand fired her just yesterday. Sue drinks, digs, and dishes the dirt on her famous clients, but on this evening, Sue is forced to face the inevitable truth: shattering the show biz glass ceiling might just get you cut in the process. Starring local comedy legend Betsy Puckett in this one woman tour-de-force that brought Bette Midler back to Broadway. Warning: This play contains profanity, alcohol consumption, drug use, and gossip. Directed by Waylon Wood. I’ll Eat You Last runs May 6-22, 2016 with performances Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm. Auditions for Good People: The Autumn Players will hold auditions for the comedy Good People on May 10, 2016 from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm. Good People will be performed as reader’s theatre. Auditions are open to all in the community, no previous experience required.  All audition material is provided at the auditions.

Olde Virden’s Super Happy Trivia Challenge: You’re in the audience for a live game show in the tradition of Wait, Wait…. Don’t Tell Me! Olde Virden’s Super Happy Trivia Challenge is a live, unscripted panel show featuring local actors and personalities putting their wits to the test as they try and answer esoteric questions about random topics. Storytelling series Listen to This: For more than 5 years, Listen to This has featured live stories told on stage along with stand-up comedy and original songs – all from local writers, actors, performers, and other interesting folks. The Autumn Players’ Readers Theatre Showcase Series Presents Good People: Welcome to Southie, a Boston neighborhood where a night on the town means a few rounds of bingo, where this month’s paycheck covers last month’s bills, and where Margie Walsh has just been let go from yet another job. Facing eviction and scrambling to catch a break, Margie thinks an old fling who’s made it out of Southie might be her ticket to a fresh new start. With his signature humorous glow, playwright David Lindsay-Abaire explores the struggles, shifting loyalties and unshakeable hopes that come with having next to nothing in America. Performances are Friday, May 27 and Saturday, May 28, 2016 in 35below at Asheville Community Theatre and Sunday, May 29, 2016 at the Reuter Center on the campus of UNCA.  All performances begin at 2:30 pm.
