Matthew Sorrells has been has been
appointed to the position of branch manager of the newly-constructed United
Federal Credit Union (UFCU) branch in Asheville, North Carolina. In his new
role, Sorrells will be responsible for providing operational leadership to
branch staff, including staff development and retention, and growth of branch
sales performance.
Sorrells was previously a business
development manager at United with responsibility for recruiting and qualifying
corporate members and supporting community and credit union activities to
ensure the achievement of corporate growth goals. He has more than 15 years of
experience in the financial industry including duties with Wells Fargo,
National City Bank, T. Rowe Price Company, and Bank of America.
A
native of Augusta, Georgia, Sorrells holds a Bachelor of Science degree
in Business Administration and Marketing from Gardner-Webb University in
Boiling Springs, North Carolina, and he received a certificate in International
Business and Foreign Studies from Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland. Sorrells,
who is active in United Way, Special Olympics, and Heart Walk Foundation, resides
in Fletcher, North Carolina.
The Asheville branch, located
at 1441 Patton Avenue, is set to open its doors for business on August 1, 2016.
A grand opening celebration will be held August 8-12, 2016.
