The Odd Couple hits the Mainstage August 10-26, 2012: The Odd Couple may just be the ultimate buddy comedy of all time. When fastidious Felix is thrown out by his wife, he moves in with his extremely messy friend Oscar. And hilarity ensues. Really- it does! Penned by Neil Simon, the master of American comedy, this show is truly textbook when it comes to smart quips and quick wits.  Asheville Community Theatre’s production of The Odd Couple is directed by Adam Cohen and stars Jeff Catanese as Oscar and Adam Arthur as Felix.  The Odd Couple will be performed on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm.  Tickets range from $12-$22.

Auditions for The Devil’s Disciple: On August 7, auditions will be held for the Readers Theatre Showcase production of The Devil’s Disciple from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm. Directed by Hal Hogstrom.  Roles available for 10 men and 5 women. All roles at ACT are open to anyone in the community. No experience is necessary to audition. All audition material is provided and will be available at the auditions.

Auditions for Naughty but Nice: On August 14, auditions will be held for the original musical revue of Naughty but Nice from 6:00-9:00 pm. Directed by Francis Cullinan with musical direction by David Troy Francis.  Roles available for 2 men and 1 woman. Those auditioning should come prepared to sing one up tempo and one ballad with at least one of those selections being music by either Coward or Porter. An accompanist will be provided but you must bring your own music in your key. All roles at ACT are open to anyone in the community.  Naughty but Nice will be performed in 35below Nov. 1-25, 2012.

Volunteer Orientation Session: Asheville Community Theatre will hold a Volunteer Orientation Session on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the downtown theatre.  All who are interested in volunteering at ACT are invited to attend.  No previous experience in theatre is required to volunteer.  The Orientation Session should last no longer than an hour and will include a tour of the theatre.

Readers Theatre Showcase Series: The Devil’s Disciple runs August 24-26, 2012: Set in Revolutionary era New England, this tells the story of Richard Dudgeon, local outcast and free-thinker.  The surprise ending raises questions about religious faith and who, in fact, can be said to side with the devil. The Readers Theatre Showcase production of The Devil’s Disciple is directed by Hal Hogstrom. Performances Friday, August 24 and Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 35below at Asheville Community Theatre; Sunday, August 26 at the Reuter Center on the UNCA campus.  All performances are at 2:30 pm and all tickets are $5.00.
