RiverLink's Anything That Floats Parade charts its course

Are you looking for a way to get in touch with your "inner tube" this summer? Embrace this philosophy and join the fun by participating in the 2012 Anything That Floats Parade on Saturday, August 11, 2012.  

Teams of adults and/or youths build anything that floats -- without a motor. Creativity, innovation and zaniness are encouraged. Designing and building is part of the fun!  Rafts can represent a business, organization, group, or any personal theme. The cost is $20 per raft team. The Anything That Floats parade begins at 10 a.m. from Hominy Creek Park and finishes at Jean Webb Park. The home-made crafts will be competing for the titles of Most Creative, Green Machine, Ugliest, Funniest, and Most Unique Design.

The Anything That Floats Parade is a featured event of RiverFest 2012 held in French Broad River Park on August 11th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The festival has an exciting line-up of music, along with food, beer, crafts and kid's activities. Be sure to stop by the viewing platform to cheer on the rafters!   

The parade sponsors: Asheville Adventure Rentals, Navitat Canopy Adventures, Carolina Mountains Credit Union, a division of Self-Help Credit Union, Glazer Architecture, PA., and Happy Body Studio are supporting the event and judging the competition.

Sponsoring the main event will be Sierra Nevada, who not only signed on as title sponsor but will provide delicious craft brews. Sierra Nevada has plans for a brewery comprising approximately 90 acres in the Henderson County Town of Mills River -- 12 miles south of the festival site right along the French Broad River.

RiverLink, a local non-profit, hosts the Anything That Floats parade and RiverFest as a fundraiser supporting their efforts in the economic and environmental revitalization of the French Broad River as a place to live, work, and play.
