The 2012 Asheville Cinema Festival (ACF) was a SMASHING
success!!!! This year’s festival exceeded expectations by screening films
that challenged, encouraged, informed and/or tickled the viewer. Some films were thought-provoking or funny, some were heartfelt or sad but all
the films were entertaining. The Opening Night film and Closing Night film,
Silver Linings Playbook and Quartet were
superb and played to a packed house. The entire festival line-up of
independent films showcased unique perspectives and justified our love affair
with the art of filmmaking.
All of the filmmakers in attendance delivered interesting,
informative and fun facts making for a lively exchange with audiences after
their films. There were thought-provoking and heart wrenching
documentaries with the filmmakers and the film stars present such as The
High Price of Victory, A Tale of Two Soldiers, and The
Cardboard Bernini. Light-hearted, fun films such as Spaghetti
fur Zwei made us laugh as well as challenged our preconceived ideas of
others. It wasn’t unusual to see audience members rushing from venue to
venue not wanting to miss anything.
