Grovewood Gallery's Craft for Critters to benefit Brother Wolf Animal Rescue

On Saturday, August 20 from 10am – 6pm, Grovewood Gallery will host a benefit and adoption drive for Brother Wolf Animal Rescue (BWAR), a No-Kill animal rescue organization in Asheville, North Carolina. Grovewood will donate 10% of gallery sales from the day to BWAR’s “Help Me Heal Fund” that provides care for orphaned animals with serious medical conditions, helping them recover so they can be adopted into loving homes.

During the benefit, customers can save 10% on all ceramic art, take in a craft demonstration, and enter a raffle to win a “Tubby Cat” sculpture by Bandana Yardbirds and a set of hand-thrown porcelain critter mugs by Asheville artist Laura Cooke. Visitors will also have the opportunity to go behind-the-scenes and take a free, self-guided tour of the artist studios on the Grovewood grounds from 11am - 4pm. Adoptable dogs and cats will be on location from noon - 4pm.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue was founded in 2007 to provide the resources and life-saving programs to build a No-Kill community in Asheville. As a grassroots organization, BWAR operates an adoption center that is open to the public 365 days a year - making it easy to adopt, volunteer, and become involved in their No-Kill mission.

In addition to offering services to our community including free spay/neuter assistance and a pet food pantry, their Behavioral Counseling and Youth Education programs help promote a better understanding of, and respect for, companion animals.
“There’s a reason why Brother Wolf has such a loyal following in the community,” says Ashley Van Matre, Marketing Manager at Grovewood Gallery. “They have a strong vision and a really dedicated staff as well as a wonderful group of volunteers who work tirelessly to help animals in need and to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption. It’s organizations like BWAR that help make Asheville a better place to live. Many of our staff have their own rescued fur babies at home, so this partnership just seemed like a natural fit. It’s going to be a good time for a good cause, and a wonderful opportunity to support our southern strays as well as some of our local and regional makers.”

The 10,000 sq.ft. Joyce B. Cambron Adoption Center, located at 31 Glendale Avenue, is home to up to 100 dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens each day. In this clean, happy, and energetic environment, animals receive mental stimulation and exercise through a variety of enrichment programs. BWAR’s dedicated volunteers ensure that each pet receives lots of love and attention until finding his or her forever home.
