Presented by Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP
The Western North Carolina Human Resource Association (WNC HRA) is pleased to
announce its annual, full-day Employment Law Program. Titled “Under the Big
Top: The Greatest HR Show on Earth,” the program will be held Wednesday, April
12th at the Lioncrest on the Biltmore Estate. The day’s agenda
includes workshops ranging on topics from recent developments in labor and
employment law to issues regarding the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The
individual sessions will be led by attorneys from Constangy, Brooks, Smith
& Prophete, LLP, a national labor and employment law firm with North
Carolina offices in Asheville and Winston-Salem.
The Employment Law Program is
open to both WNC HRA members and non-members. WNC HRA President Sharon Craig
noted that much of the information at this particular meeting is pertinent to
business people who may not hold a “HR” or “compliance” position but who wear
those hats in their jobs. Small business owners and those in finance or
accounting roles will also find many of the sessions valuable. Additionally,
Craig remarked, North Carolina has a new governor and the country has a new
president, so there are lots of questions out there about what could change in
the world of employment law.
The workshop topics are as
follows:
~ The Three Ring Circus: Recent
Developments in Labor and Employment Law
~ Walking the High Wire: Top 5 Compliance Issues
~ The Price of Admissions: Cost Containment & Mitigating Risk in Litigation
~ Juggling Act: Scheduling and Leave Issues under the FMLA
