AvL Technologies celebrates completion of Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity house

It’s no secret that AvL Technologies supports the community by using locally sourced materials and employing nearly 200 people in Buncombe County to produce world-class antennas.  Recently, AvL took their commitment to the community a step further by fully sponsoring a house with Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity. Not only did they donate $55,000 to help finance the home’s construction which started late September of last year, but nearly 100% of the employees from AvL volunteered at least one day on the site to help build it.

Last September, the employees showed their support for the Habitat partner family by marching from their plant at 15 North Merrimon Avenue to the construction site a stone’s throw away on Pelzer Street in Woodfin. There, they simultaneously raised the first two walls of the home. Last Thursday, March 14th, nearly their entire workforce celebrated at the plant as AvL Technologies owner, Jim Oliver, passed a ceremonial key to Lisa and Alex Fedun, who will close on the new home in a few days. The family has a one-year-old son, Bryson, and a baby on the way. But their family is larger than that—they have the support of AvL Technologies right up the road.
