Mars Hill University stages "Ruthless! The Musical" at Owen Theatre

The Mars Hill University theatre arts department will present "Ruthless! The Musical" in Owen Theatre, April 27-30, 2017. Performance times at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 27, through Saturday, April 29; and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 30. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and non-Mars Hill University students (MHU students are admitted free). The show is not recommended for children under age 12.

"Ruthless!" was written by Joel Paley and Marvin Lard. It is a camp cult classic in which the beautiful and talented 8-year-old Tina Denmark will do anything to play the lead in her school play. The show famously spoofs Broadway musicals as well as iconic films, including "The Bad Seed" and "All About Eve." "Ruthless!" is described as a roller coaster ride through the world of Broadway, child actors, stage mothers, parenthood, fame, and unbridled ambition.

The Mars Hill production is directed by Jessica West, with musical direction by Joel Rogers. Both are professors in the university's theatre arts department.
