The City of Asheville will once again host the SoCon Tournament, which will be held March 7 - 10, 2014.  All men's games will be played at the newly-improved U.S. Cellular Center, while Kimmel Arena at UNC Asheville will host the women's opening round and quarterfinals.  The women's semifinals and championship game will also be held at the U.S. Cellular Center.

The Southern Conference announced in May that the Men's and Women's Basketball Championships will be held in Asheville through the 2016-17 seasons, a three-year extension added to the original agreement with the city. The tournament has had an estimated annual economic impact of $4 million, bringing in over 10,000 visitors to Asheville in early March and utilizes over 4,000 hotel room nights.  Attendance figures during the 2013 SoCon Tournament topped 34,000 for both men's and women's sessions.

Additional festivities during the week of the 2014 SoCon Tournament include mascot visits to Mission Hospital, Education Day and SoCon Overtime at the Grove Arcade on Friday, March 7, and the return of the popular kids event Downtown Dribble on Saturday, March 8.  The Southern Conference Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Monday, March 10 before the championship games.
