December Intersections events to feature crafts and song

The Diana Wortham Theatre at Pack Place in downtown Asheville announces its December 2013 Intersections events: Holiday Crafts from the Heart Craft Group with artist Ruth Ingram on Tuesday, December 10 at 6:00 p.m.; Winter Songs Sing Together with Beth and Jim Magill on Friday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m.; and p.m. a series held in The Forum at Diana Wortham Theatre.

The Sing Together Series, with musicians Beth and Jim Magill, is designed for family and friends to celebrate the joy of music and singing in spirited sessions each with a different theme throughout the year. All skill levels are welcome. Bring family and friends, make new friends, and create community through song. The Winter Songs theme is about slowing down during the busy holiday season to spend a precious hour singing with the ones you love. Regardless of your religious affiliation, you will learn seasonal songs to share with the entire family to create a warm holiday season.

The Craft Group, presented in partnership with Handmade in America, meets monthly to create a work of art under the direction of a local artist. In the Holiday Crafts workshop on Tuesday December 10, participants will spend the evening creating their own unique gifts for the special people on their list. Projects include vibrant pot holders and coffee cozies sure to brighten up any kitchen. Participants will learn the art of "improv sewing" and how to read a basic pattern to create unique presents. Students are encouraged to bring their own sewing machines if possible. A few machines will be available for group use. A perfect project for beginning and experienced sewers! The cost of the Holiday Crafts workshop is $30, which includes all materials, and reservations are made by calling the Diana Wortham Theatre box office at (828) 258-3387 or by visiting www.dwtheatre.com.

Featuring a full season of classes, discussions, and performances, Intersections is an opportunity for patrons to connect more deeply with the arts, artists, and each other. The Forum, a large multi-purpose space adjacent to the Diana Wortham theatre and accessible from the theatre’s main lobby, is the venue for all Intersections events unless otherwise announced. To obtain more information on the Diana Wortham Theatre’s Intersections Series, reserve a space in a class or group, or purchase performance tickets, call the theatre’s box office at (828) 257-4530 or visit www.dwtheatre.com.
