DETAILS
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever Runs Through December 8, 2013: In this hilarious Christmas tale, a
couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant is faced with casting
the Herdman kids, 6 delinquent siblings who smoke, kick, punch, and steal
(they’ve started coming to church for the free gourmet snacks they’ve heard,
wrongly, are offered). The other children at the church are afraid to
audition for fear of getting beat up, so the Herdmans get all the biggest parts
– despite having never heard the Nativity story. A terrific piece for family
audiences! The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is directed by Cary
Nichols. Performances are Friday and
Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm. Tickets range from
$12.00-$22.00.
All
in the Timing Opens
in 35below:
Attic Salt Theatre Company moves into 35below in December for a three show
residency, beginning with their production of David Ives’s All in the
Timing directed by Jeff Catanese. This critically acclaimed,
award-winning evening of short comedies combines wit, intellect, satire and
just plain fun. When this evening of six one-act comedies premiered in 1993,
Vincent Canby of The New York Times said “Ives is wizardly…magical and funny…a
master of language.” Canby also told audiences “Drop-everything-and-go!”–and
audiences did, for more than 600 performances. All in the Timing
will be performed December 5-22, 2013 with performances Thursday, Friday and
Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm. All tickets
are $15.00 and are available online, by phone or in person at the ACT Box Office.
The Autumn Players Meeting: The Autumn Players, a group of seasoned actors who bring
theatre to the WNC community, will meet on Saturday, December 7, 2013
at 10:00 am at the downtown theatre. All are welcome to attend!
Volunteer Orientation Session: Asheville Community Theatre will hold a Volunteer Orientation
Session on Monday, December 9, 2013 at 6:30 pm at the downtown theatre.
All who are interested in volunteering at ACT are invited to attend. No
previous experience in theatre is required to volunteer. The Orientation
Session should last no longer than an hour and will include a tour of the
theatre.
The
Santaland Diaries
runs December 19-22, 2013:
Asheville’s favorite holiday tradition is back for a 12th encore
production! Betsy Puckett helms the show for the second year in a row, and
you’ll never believe who’ll be sliding into the striped stockings of Crumpet
the Elf! The Santaland Diaries is David Sedaris’ hilarious comedy
commenting on the best and worst of people from a retail employee’s point of
view. Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night at 7:30 pm
and Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm. All tickets are $15.00 and are available
online, by phone or in person at the Box Office.
