Valerie Sneade has performed to sold out audiences nationwide. She has toured alongside countless Broadway stars and with vintage national acts such as The Four Aces and Al Martino. As a recent transplant to Asheville, Valerie will debut her critically acclaimed show A Tribute to Barbra Streisand at Asheville Community Theatre on Friday, November 1 at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $19.00 and are available online at ashevilletheatre.org, by phone at 828-254-1320 or in person at the Asheville Community Theatre Box Office located at 35 East Walnut Street in downtown Asheville.
Valerie’s A Tribute to Barbra Streisand came to life in 2000. Though this performance marks its debut in North Carolina, the show has been hailed by both Bay Windows and Edge Magazine as “one of the 10 best shows in Boston.” Songs celebrated in A Tribute to Barbra Streisand include “Don’t Rain On My Parade,” “Evergreen,” “The Way We Were,” “A Piece of Sky,” “Second Hand Rose,” “Happy Days Are Here Again,” “People” and many more.
Valerie’s voice and style have often been compared to the likes of Liza Minnelli, Bette Midler and countless other megawatt stars, but she has a sound and a style all her own. An all-around entertainer equally at home as a brassy belter or whispering balladeer, and with an uncanny ability to charm an audience with her quick wit and an aura of accessibility, she is most assuredly very much Valerie Sneade. The Worcester Telegram described her as “a formidable singer with a giant voice … a wondrous talent for mimicry, and a pure, lush tone.” This was echoed by New York’s Cabaret Hotline, who raved, “if you ever get a chance to see Valerie Sneade on stage, put on your Nikes and get to the box office fast."
Valerie spent much of her early career as a singer and actress performing in small clubs and theaters around Boston and Worcester, Mass. Later, she expanded her performance footprint and began singing around the country. Her extensive list of regional, Off-Broadway, and cabaret venues includes The Grand Ole Opry, The Papermill Playhouse (NJ), The York Theatre (NYC), The Lyric Stage of Boston, The Palace Theatre (NH), Don’t Tell Mama and Danny’s Skylight Room (NYC), The Inn On Newfound Lake (NH) and The Cultural Center of Port Charlotte, The North Port Performing Arts Center, The Charlotte Performing Arts Center and Venice Little Theater in Florida. Locally, she has appeared at Flat Rock Playhouse in their hit production of Anything Goes.
