Mission Health has announced the appointment of Bob Bednarek as interim President of McDowell Hospital, beginning January 1. Bednarek will assume this interim role upon the departure of Lynn Boggs, who has been President and CEO at McDowell since 2012. In September Boggs announced that she would step down from her current position at the end of this year.
Bednarek
currently serves as Vice President of Rural Health Planning and Development for
Mission Health. Prior to assuming that role in May 2014, Bednarek served for 18
years as President and CEO of Transylvania Regional Hospital. He will work
closely with Boggs for the next several weeks to assure an appropriate
transition at McDowell Hospital.
“So
many good things are happening at McDowell, thanks to Lynn’s strong
leadership,” said Bednarek. “From operating performance, to physician
relations, to community engagement and organizational culture, she’s leaving
this hospital in a very good place. And because she is remaining in our
community, we’ll have the benefit of her wisdom and her involvement going
forward.”
“We are enormously fortunate to have within our system a
leader of Bob’s experience, and we are grateful that he is willing to step into
this interim role while we complete the search for a new president,” said Kathy
Guyette, Mission Health’s Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and
President of Regional Member Hospitals. “That search is proceeding actively and
we expect to have a final candidate to present to the Board of Directors by late
February.”
