Heedy earned a bachelor's degree in biosystems engineering from Clemson University and a law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law. He has experience in all matters related to United States and foreign patent preparation and prosecution, trademarks and copyrights. In his patent practice, Heedy assists inventors through the patent prosecution process, including patentability searches, preparing and filing applications, prosecuting applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and international agencies, and issuance and maintenance of patents. He works with inventions ranging from the simple, such as a trailer hitch, to the complex, such as optical fibers and related equipment. In addition to his patent practice, Heedy has assisted clients with the prosecution and renewal of more than 100 trademarks.
Heedy is also a member of the firm's litigation practice, focusing on intellectual property disputes.
