Free electronics recycling available through Goodwill Industries

Reconnect, the electronics recycling program for businesses in northwest North Carolina, is a partnership between Dell and Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina.  It is a comprehensive electronics recovery, reuse and environmentally responsible recycling opportunity for consumers. Reconnect provides computer recycling that is both good for the environment and an easy and free way for your business to dispose of unwanted computers, monitors, printers, and peripherals.

It is prohibited in North Carolina to dispose of electronics into landfills.  This program offers businesses the opportunity to support a nonprofit organization in their community while receiving a tax deduction.  Goodwill can provide free bulk pickup for businesses with large quantities of equipment to donate.  Alternatively, equipment can be donated at any Goodwill store or donation center.  All brands and conditions of equipment are accepted.

All systems donated to Goodwill are cleaned of stored information according to US Department of Defense specifications.  Newer systems or component parts are sold at select Goodwill stores.  Systems not sold in stores are recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.  Since this national program was started in 2004, Goodwill has diverted over 253 million pounds of e-waste from our landfills.
