Parade and ball - grand finale to Asheville Mardi Gras' weekend-long event

Gather your krewes, dig out those costumes, and warm up your dancing shoes, because on Sunday February 10th there will be dancing in the streets of Asheville! All are welcome to join in, or just come gander at the 2013 Asheville Mardi Gras Parade and Ball.

This year's parade will be led by the new Mardi Gras King, Matt Intrnet Evanoff, and Queen Sheila Ann Thibodeaux! The Parade will step off from Wall Street on Bacchus Sunday, February 10, at 3:05 p.m., rain or shine. This year's parade takes the same route as last year's, up Haywood, turning at the Civic Center and then back in front of the Grove Arcade on Page Ave. You can view the route details at ashevillemardigras.org. If you are interested in joining up with or creating a krewe, please do so at this website.

Immediately following the parade, everyone is invited to the 6th annual Queen's Ball, featuring live performances by Asheville's only working cajun/zydeco/Louisiana style dance band, “Bayou Diesel” along with drum and dance troop “Zabumba!” the Mardi Gras marching band “Asheville Second Line”, and the talented dance troop from the Urban Arts Institute "Eternity". The ball takes place at the Century Room at Pack's Tavern.

Both the parade and ball are always free, family friendly, and open to the public. This year's theme is "French Broads and Odd Fellows".
