Free voter registration, education, and protection training - Feb. 11th

WHO: The YWCA of Asheville, AAUW Asheville, and Democracy NC

WHAT: Jumpstart the Vote: A free training for those currently involved in or interested in learning more about local voter registration, voter education, and voter protection. This regional training is FREE and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

WHEN: February 11, 2014; TWO different times: 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm

WHERE: YWCA Multipurpose Room, 185 S. French Broad Ave.

The YWCA of Asheville and the AAUW are pleased to host Operation Jumpstart – a coordinated, statewide campaign to counter the wave of new voting restrictions with hundreds of local nonpartisan projects that help citizens register, get photo IDs, and understand the big changes in North Carolina’s election law. As the campaign coordinator, Democracy North Carolina connects people and organizations working in the same area, provides a variety of materials, and helps groups create a program or ministry with practical goals that advance voter education, voter registration and voting protection

Participants will learn more about Operation Jumpstart, and receive information about subjects including assisting people with obtaining ID and advocating for early voting plans. Attendees will leave with solid actions and better tools to get the job done.
