The Hollow,
a classic murder mystery by Agatha Christie, is scheduled for three matinee
performances by The Autumn Players of Asheville Community Theatre (ACT): Friday
and Saturday August 18 and 19 in 35below at ACT and Sunday August 20, 2017 at
UNC Asheville’s Reuter Center. The Hollow will be performed as
reader’s theatre. Curtain is at 2:30 pm for all three performances. All tickets
are $6.00 and are available online at www.ashevilletheatre.org. Any remaining
tickets will be sold by cash only at the door beginning at 2:00 pm prior to
each performance.
Auditions for The Hollow will take
place from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm at ACT/35below on Tuesday, August 1, and are
open to the community. Rehearsals are at the same time and place on August 3,
8, 10, 15 and 17.
Complete with generous dashes of
humor, The Hollow is a classic whodunit that takes us into the British
manor house of Sir Henry and Lady Angkatell, regarded as Christie's finest
comic grande dame. The medley of weekend guests proves to be a highly
combustible mixture, with romantic sparks flying in all the wrong directions.
When a murder is committed, it becomes clear that any number of those present
have every good reason to have killed the two-timing victim.
Director Marianne Lyon acted in and
directed numerous full-stage productions in her previous theatre life in
Houston, Texas. She also served on the Board of Directors and as dramaturg for
The Company OnStage. She is currently a member of the play reading committee as
well as incoming chairman of The Autumn Players. Marianne directed last
season's production of Gary Carden's Outlander
and most recently played Lily Dale in Horton Foote's Young Man from Atlanta.
The Autumn Players is ACT's
volunteer outreach group consisting of over 100 seasoned actors writers and
educators dedicated to taking theatre into the community. Since 1992 the
