Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina is pleased to announce its newest program in Buncombe County, Professional Truck Driver Training. This program is a four-week professional tractor-trailer driver training school for individuals who wish to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License and be qualified to obtain employment as an entry-level professional driver within the transportation industry.
Offered in
partnership with TransTech and Buncombe County Schools, the Professional Driver
Training School gives clients the opportunity to earn their Commercial Drivers
License and is committed to the highest quality training standards by
instructors with decades of professional driving experience. All trainees drive
over mountainous terrain or multi-lane city driving, navigating real life
conditions required for professional tractor-trailer driving in a safe and
monitored environment. The class is being offered in response to the increasing
need for professional truck drivers in the area.
“As a result
of the partnership with Goodwill Industries and the over 50 trucking companies
that hire our student graduates, TransTech, Inc. will be able to provide
employment opportunities to all graduates immediately following the completion
of training,” said Ron Osborne, Vice President of TransTech. “In addition, with
the assistance of the Workforce Investment Act and Goodwill, financial
assistance is offered to qualified individuals who may lack funding for the
training.”
“We are
excited to partner with a company that has such a great reputation in the
industry. TransTech has the integrity that we expect at Goodwill. They
interview each candidate to ensure a good fit with the profession prior to
their enrolling in the class,” said Josh Pierce, Asheville District Director of
Workforce Development.
