The Weekend of Wonder comes to Asheville - May 2-4


For three wondrous days in early May, the historic downtown district of Asheville, North Carolina will come alive with Magic, Mystery and Enchantment for The Weekend of Wonder. From Friday, May 2nd through Sunday the 4th, a Dream Team of Master Magicians will appear at over a dozen venues in a dazzling showcase of Close-up, Stage and Street Magic, One-Man Shows, Lectures, Workshops and All-Star Galas. World renowned magicians, Jay Scott Berry and Maxwell Blade have teamed up to produce this historic event that is rapidly becoming the largest Festival of Magic ever held in the US.


Joining Blade and Berry will be a host of International Stars including, direct from Las Vegas, multi award-winning Wizard, Jeff McBride, World Champion Close-up Artist, Michael Ammar and Magical Minstrel, Andrew Goldenhersh. Feature Artists include Asheville magicians, “MagicBrad” and TJ Shimeld, Charlotte’s Chastain Criswell and, from Dallas, The Serpentine Sorcerer, Daryl Sprout. The Festival’s Guest of Honor will be local celebrity and magic shop owner, Ricky Boone, who will perform and lecture.


The Weekend of Wonder is a golden ticket into the world of pure imagination, perfect for children, families and everyone who loves magic. Your journey begins at the Asheville Community Theatre. This state-of-the-Art venue will host all of the Main Events. These include The All Star Gala on Friday night, The Masters of Magic Gala on Saturday night, the One-Man Shows and Magic Lectures. The on-site Black Box Theatre, known as “35 Below” will host the Workshops.


From there you can venture in all directions to be amazed, amused and inspired. Tickets start at only $10 each and many of the shows throughout the Festival are free! Ticket Packages are very reasonably priced at only $150 adults and $100 for Children under 17. These are specially designed for Magicians or the general public and include Reserved VIP Seating to 10 of the Major Shows and Events.


The fun begins with The Grand Opening Celebration, high noon on Friday at The Asheville Community Theatre. This is a free event for introductions, questions, photos and autographs. The All-Star Street Magic Gala starts at 5pm and later that night, the Meet the Stars party starts at 10:30pm. Both of these special events are also free. The WOW Festival wraps up with the Closing Party at 8:30pm Sunday night. In between will be non-stop fun, surprise shows, balloon workshops and so much more!
