We are pleased to recognize Mosaix Group as Small Business of the Month. Mosaix Group offers event planning for corporate events locally, nationally and even internationally as well as destination management and team building. The ten-person team seeks to provide one-of-a-kind experiences for their clients and event attendees.
Read on for our interview with Mosaix Group.
History of the Mosaix
Group:
Mosaix Group
started with a card table, a garage, and a really big idea. Fresh off her
whirlwind 15 years working around the globe for Carlson Marketing Group and
General Electric, Melissa Murray created Asheville DMC in 2001 as a way to
marry her love of her adopted town with her extensive corporate event skills.
Yet it didn’t take long for Asheville DMC to become too small a moniker for her
aspirations, and she changed the name to Mosaix Group in 2006 to better reflect
the domestic and international event scope. Melissa is still trying to figure
out how to run an event in Antarctica, the only continent that has so far
eluded her. Mosaix Group has grown steadily every year, and with the growth,
new staff, new challenges and new projects arrive.
The crack 10-person
team that Melissa has assembled includes experts on medical meetings,
international conventions, décor, web registration, team building, transportation
logistics and more. If George Peppard had his A-Team, Melissa Murray has her A+
Team.
There’s so much to
be proud of:
Mosaix continues to
produce internationally recognized events with an incredibly talented team of
individuals throttled with creative energy.
The cohesive atmosphere of the team has allowed Mosaix to produce large
scale events simultaneously while scooping up International Awards along the
way.
Best Advice You’ve
Gotten For Operating A Small Business:
Don’t
be afraid to make a mistake. Those
mistakes become learning experiences which take the company, the employees, the
owner and the clients to the next level.
Make sure you allow your employees to make mistakes as well.
In the new world, it is not the big fish which eats
the small fish it’s the fast fish which eats the slow fish.
Tips For Other
Small Businesses:
Treat your staff as
if they are your clients. Employees are
the most important resource in any business.
Happy employees will help owners earn business, retain clients and
create a positive work atmosphere.
Hire people that
are smarter than you. And then let them
do their thing. Learn from them.
“The illiterate
of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write but those who
cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.” Alvin Toffler
