Asheville Brewers Alliance and Asheville Habitat kick off "The House that Brewers Built" with beer week events

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity and the Asheville Brewers Alliance (ABA) are excited to announce “The House That Beer Built”. This Habitat house will be funded and built by the local brewing community and beer lovers at-large. The Asheville Brewers Alliance has committed a generous lead gift, member breweries are participating in a myriad of ways, and there are ways for Asheville beer lovers to get involved too. House construction begins in November, and fundraising for the house is launching during the upcoming Beer Week 2017.

Here’s how you can help:
Wednesday, May 31 – 4-8pm, SIGN A STUD WALL at New Belgium Brewery for suggested $1 donation. This wall will be used in the actual construction of the House that Brewers Built.
Friday, June 2 – 5pm-close, RAISE A PINT at One World Brewing to kick off their month of fundraising that will support the House That Brewers Built.

To stay abreast of other opportunities as they arise, follow Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity and the ABA on social media.

“The Asheville Brewers Alliance and Habitat for Humanity have a long-standing relationship that we are excited to continue and grow. Our local craft breweries are already so committed to building community within our industry and with other local businesses and nonprofits, so it seemed fitting to support the actual construction of a home for one of our neighbors. We are honored to participate,” said Kendra Penland, Executive Director of the Asheville Brewers Alliance.

Kit Rains, Asheville Habitat’s Development Director added, “We are thrilled that the breweries that add so much to Asheville’s culture have chosen to partner with Habitat to help ease our city’s affordable housing crisis, and provide another family the opportunity to build a better future on the foundation of the stability that comes from owning a decent and affordable home. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the craft beer community and the spirit that makes Asheville home for us all.”
