All discipline of art is for sale including paintings, sculpture, clay, glass, wood, fiber, jewelry, photography, and more. Asheville Fine Art Show is presented by Hot Works, by an executive producer with an outstanding national reputation. You will see many new artists who are showcasing their work for their very first time in Asheville!

Institute for the Arts & Education is the 501(c)3 non-profit arm which focuses on visual arts, diversity, community enrichment, and fostering art education among youth. There is $1,500 in professional artist awards. Mark Forman, a sculptor, painter and art educator with 60 years’ experience is the Artist Judge. Criteria for judging is based on technique/execution, originality and booth appearance. “Prize Patrol” is Saturday, May 20, from 3pm-4pm, in which awards are distributed and winning artists are personally congratulated. Everyone is welcome to join us for Prize Patrol – it is lots of fun!

As part of our commitment to include art education in the Asheville Fine Art Show and the community, a Youth Art Competition is integrated into the art show. Young artists in grades K-8 or ages 5-13 were invited to enter his/her original and personally handmade art. This competition gives budding, young artists a golden opportunity to begin to learn the rules of being part of a professional art show and exhibition.

The Youth Art competition is provided with a 10’x20’ space within the show to display all the Youth Art entries. There is $250 in cash awards provided to four winners, along with a beautiful, colorful two-foot-long ribbon. Criteria for judging the youth art is technique/execution and originality, which is similar for judging of the professional artist awards. As art programs are being dramatically cut and eliminated in schools nationwide, the need for such initiatives is made even more relevant. On Sunday, May 21 at 3pm near the “Youth Art Competition” booth, the Youth Art awards will be announced and presented.

Asheville Fine Art Show is $8 admission; $10 two-day pass; 13 & under are free. Event hours are Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, from 10am-5pm daily. More info at www.hotworks.org.
