Local musicians unite to support women living with reproductive cancers

On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, from 7:00pm to 11:00pm at THE BLOCK off biltmore, 39 S. Market St., local musicians will perform in a benefit concert to raise money for the Hope Chest for Women. There is a $5.00 cover charge.

“We are blessed to have so many local musicians donating their time and talents to benefit our WNC Cancer Support Program that pays medical and non-medical bills for women diagnosed with breast and gynecological cancer. We thank THE BLOCK off biltmore for the generous use of the beautiful space, for good food and good music, for supporting good causes such as ours,” said Sara Laws, the Hope Chest for Women Executive Director.

The May 4th lineup of artists features Lance Kurland, Dawn Carol, Jill Siler, Sally Sparks, Pop Rocks and Moonshine, Mirror Image, and Trippin Hardie. The evening ends with the ever-popular Phuncle Sam, Asheville's own Dead-Centric "jam band.” Sound is donated by Drew Cleary.

"On behalf of the musicians performing in this event, we are honored to be asked to participate in such an important cause for so many women battling cancer in the WNC area." Tawney Sankey of Mirror Image.

Cam MacQueen, THE BLOCK off biltmore’s owner, is dedicated to creating a place where worthy causes are benefitted and local music thrives. “THE BLOCK off biltmore is delighted to serve as the venue for the May 4th fundraiser. Drink specials will be available and in addition to the cover charge generously donated by the musicians, a portion of the evening's bar sales (nonalcoholic drinks included) will go to the Hope Chest for Women’s important work to help women in our community find support, compassion and healing.”
