Highland Brewing Company
celebrated its 20th anniversary with the inaugural Highland Night Flight Race on Saturday,
July 12, 2014. This four-mile race was centered at the brewery in East
Asheville and included a loop that has never been raced on before. Runners were
encouraged by cheers from Beverly Hills residents, who came out in force with
applause, a water hose and messages in chalk on the road. Afterward, a celebration
was held with the runners, their families and friends at Highland with food,
music and delicious fresh beer at the post-race party
Highland Ale Share was
held on Saturday, July 26, at Highland Brewing. This 1st annual beer festival will be held each year
on this Saturday in support of the local community. Nineteen breweries were represented, with each
brewery showcasing 1 year-round beer, 1 seasonal beer and 1 specialty beer. Entertainment included Mark Shane,
Floating Action, and The Sufi Brothers, featuring Woody Wood.
Both of these events were
produced in partnership with the City of Asheville and the Asheville Parks and Greenways Foundation, with all the net
proceeds going to the development of a greenway in East Asheville.
