Event Details
A Chorus Line Closes March 1, 2015: The final performance for A Chorus Line is Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:30 pm. A Chorus Line is a brilliantly complex fusion of dance, song and compellingly authentic drama, this “singular sensation” redefined musical theatre. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at an audition process as well as a celebration of what it means to truly be a dancer. Tickets are available online at www.ashevilletheatre.org, over the phone at 828-254-1320, or in person at the Asheville Community Theatre Box Office.

The Autumn Players’ Readers Theatre Showcase Series Presents Any Wednesday: A happy comedy with a giddy bubble of champagne, Any Wednesday features a quartet of contentious characters: John Cleves, a wealthy New York businessman who cheats on his wife; Dorothy, his loyal wife; Ellen Gordon, his young mistress; and Cass Henderson, a client who assumes that the mistress is a general offering for all those who do business with the firm.  Finally, the games and deceptions are blown apart by the truth and the characters get their just rewards as the plot rolls merrily to its end. Directed by Walter Goodrich.  Final performance is Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:30 pm at the Reuter Center on the campus of UNCA. Tickets are $6.00 (includes NC Sales Tax) and are available at the door.

Tape Opens in 35below: In a cheap motel room in Lansing, MI, three former high school friends find themselves in a situation that is both intriguing and frighteningly possible. Tape is a suspenseful, high-stakes story that examines questions of motive, memory, truth and perception. Tape is written by Stephen Belber and is directed by Elliot Weiner, who is making his Asheville directorial debut. Tape will be performed March 6-22, 2015 with performances Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm.  All tickets are $15.00 and are available online at www.ashevilletheatre.org, by phone at 828-254-1320 or in person at the ACT Box Office.

Broadway Bootcamp begins March 7: This 10 week class that spotlights the fabulous world of Broadway and ends in a cabaret-style performance on our Mainstage! Broadway Bootcamp will be directed by Jerry Crouch, who helmed such ACT hits as Hairspray, Peter Pan, and Oliver! This class is geared for middle and high school students. For more information, or to enroll, contact Chanda Calentine at 828-254-1320.

Amadeus on the Mainstage: In 18th century Vienna, music is the currency of power. And Court Composer Antonio Salieri is the toast of the town. That is, until a young prodigy by the name of Mozart comes on the scene. Reeling from the realization of his own mediocrity in the face of true genius, Salieri swears vengeance on the God that gifted Mozart’s breathtaking talent. Swells of music and madness stir through the Tony Award-winning drama that raises the question: how far would you go to secure your legacy? Amadeus is directed by Angie Flynn-McIver and stars Michael MacCauley. Presented as a part of the Asheville Amadeus Festival, Amadeus is a co-production between NC Stage Company & Asheville Community Theatre. Amadeus will be performed March 11-22, 2015 with performances Wednesday - Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm.  Tickets are available online at www.ashevilletheatre.org, by phone at 828-254-1320 or in person at the ACT Box Office.

Storytelling series Listen to This: In the vein of “The Moth” or “This American Life,” Listen to This features stories and original songs from locals. March’s theme is “Meet the Parents: Couples Co-telling Tales of Family First Encounters” which will be presented on March 26, 2015 at 7:30 pm in 35below. Hosted by Tom Chalmers. Tickets are $15.00. Past installments of Listen to This are available for download at Asheville Community Theatre’s website.
