Andrew Lawler's new book, Why Did the Chicken Cross the World: The Epic Saga of the Bird that Powers Civilization, sweeps through

Local writer Ted Alexander will discuss his first novel, The Fall of Summer. A beloved columnist for the Asheville Citizen-Times, Alexander has written a 1960s coming-of-age tale set in Long Island, where the author grew up.

MEAGAN SPOONER & AMIE KAUFMAN LAUNCH PARTY Local author Meagan Spooner and Amie Kaufman (who joins us from
Australia) will celebrate the eagerly anticipated new Starbound novel, This Shattered World, with us! The follow-up to the delightful duo's award-winning and much-loved book, These Broken Stars, this new novel follows the exploits of Flynn Cormac, a rebel leader, and Jubilee "Lee" Chase, who is sent to crush his rebellion. Andrea Olson is back with a new salon! This series will use the book Meeting the Shadow: The Hidden Power of the Dark Side of Human Nature as a guide for exploring the personal and collective shadow, shadow work, and how to navigate the shadow instead of letting it run rampant. The first session will focus on the Prologue and Introduction. These events are free and open to the public and will meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Please join us for one or all.

A celebration of the author's love of unusual women and lost or overlooked women in history, the new short story collection Almost Famous Women by Megan Mayhew Bergman takes several figures from history and fleshes out their strange and glorious lives. slogan: 'There's an app for that.' What are the most desirable, terrifying, or ridiculous apps that haven't been and, possibly, will never be released? Formulate a concept of an app. Translate it in the language of design." Now we can reap the fascinating rewards.

Local animal activist, model, and more, Deidre Franklin joins us to talk furry friends! Deidre founded her organization, Pinups for Pitbulls, Inc., in 2005. Deirdre aka "Little Darling" was tired of finding that so-called rescues and shelters were euthanizing healthy, friendly, and adoptable animals due to their alleged "breed." After successful fundraising through her yearly calendars, Deidre put together the fabulous Pinups for Pitbulls book.
