Junior League of Asheville and ABCCM's Steadfast House create educational learning playroom

The Junior League of Asheville (JLA) is proud to announce the creation of the Junior League of Asheville Educational Learning Playroom at ABCCM’s Steadfast House.

The JLA Educational Learning Playroom will serve as a place of educational support and camaraderie for the children living at Steadfast House. Cosmetic improvements to the room begin September 2015 and the Junior League of Asheville expects the room to be functional beginning in November 2015. The space will be completely furnished by the Junior League of Asheville including educational toys, games, books, puzzles, and arts and craft supplies.

The Community Projects Outreach Committee (CPOC) of the Junior League of Asheville’s Community Council will also develop lesson plans for volunteers to use in the space. Lessons will vary in theme based on important aspects of childhood development including physical development, social and emotional development, general knowledge literacy, and communication skills. The lesson plans will be packaged with instruction so that Junior League of Asheville and community volunteers can easily implement them in the space.

Community Council Vice President Lauren Woodard looks forward to seeing the Junior League of Asheville Educational Learning Playroom at Steadfast House come to life over the next few months; “ We are thrilled to provide the Steadfast House with a playroom where parents and children can spend quality time together engaging in activities that are both educational and fun. Our membership is excited to not only furnish the space with classroom furniture and educational toys and games, but to also have the opportunity to come back and teach lessons in the space and develop ongoing relationships with the families that live at Steadfast House."
