Grovewood Gallery in Asheville is hosting a Holiday Sip & Shop event, December 11 & 12 and again on December 18 & 19, featuring work by local makers as well as many skilled artisans from around the country. Everything in the gallery will be 10% off (excluding demonstrators’ merchandise) and in addition to the sale, holiday shoppers can also enjoy artist demonstrations, complimentary wine, warm cider and gingerbread cookies.

Tess Darling Demonstrates Still Life Drawing
& Painting
December 11 & 12 (11am – 4pm)
Watch Asheville
artist Tess Darling work on a still life drawing and painting of a bonsai tree.
Tess, known for her series of contemporary landscapes, often reflects on the
interactions of humans with nature and believes bonsai trees can be symbolic of
how our ever-growing human population dictates earth’s environment.
Charlie Patricolo Demonstrates
Doll-Making
December 12 (10am – 4pm)
North
Carolina-based artist Charlie Patricolo has been sparking imaginations and
making whimsical cloth dolls for nearly 50 years. Watch as she works on dolls
in various stages of completion and transforms them into delightful creations
full of life. Attendees will also have the opportunity to enter a drawing for
one of her signature Jack Frost dolls.
December 18 (11am - 5pm)
Metalsmith
Audrey Laine Sawyer will demonstrate her process of piercing silhouette imagery
and constructing hollow forms out of brass and sterling silver. Audrey is a
2010 graduate of Haywood Community College's Professional Crafts Program who
creates nature-inspired jewelry out of her North Asheville studio.
Kathleen Doyle Demonstrates Enameling
December 18 & 19 (11am - 5pm)
Watch
metalsmith Kathleen Doyle demonstrate enameling on copper and silver and learn
about the lost wax casting process. Kathleen and her husband, Thomas Reardon,
have been studio artists at Grovewood since 1995 and are well known for their
elegant, custom wedding rings, multi-metal earrings, and inventive jewelry.
