Junior League announces annual poinsettia sale to benefit community projects

The Junior League of Asheville (JLA) announces the start of their annual poinsettia sale to benefit the Junior League of Asheville’s community projects.

The Junior League of Asheville operates as a catalyst for positive change within the local community through generating volunteer hours, funds, and donations and channeling them to projects which align with the JLA mission. Since its founding, the Junior League of Asheville has donated nearly $1,000,000.00 to various projects throughout the Asheville community. Through fundraisers such as the poinsettia sale, JLA strives to improve the welfare of the underserved, especially women and children, via local partnership efforts.

The JLA Poinsettia Sale was launched in September 2015 and is now open for public orders. Options for purchase are white, red, or pink poinsettias in six inch, eight inch, or 10 inch pots. The cost per plant is $10, $15, or $20 respectively and any individual order over $200 is eligible for a 20% discount. The poinsettias are grown by Dixie Green, Inc. in Centre, Alabama and will be delivered the first week of December. Orders may be picked up at Togar Rugs in Arden who have graciously offered to allow delivery and distribution from their store.

In 2014, the inaugural year of the JLA Poinsettia Sale, over $6,000.00 was raised from this single fundraiser. Mindy Harrington, JLA active member who introduced the poinsettia sale, had this to say about the fundraiser, “We’re so thankful for the many community partners including Doubletree in Biltmore Village, Park Ridge Health, Wells Fargo Advisors, and The Van Winkle Law Firm who participated in last year’s fundraiser and we look forward to continuing success this year to aid in funding the project the Junior League of Asheville is introducing at ABCCM’s Steadfast House.”
